Kindergarten Transition for 2024
Our Kindergarten transition program finished last week. The sessions ran smoothly and were a good opportunity for our Kindergarten teachers for 2024 to meet their new students and start to develop these relationships. A play date was held on Saturday 25 November in the hall which was well attended. A special thanks to Mrs Forsyth for all her thoughtful planning in this process.
Semester Two reports
Teachers have been busy writing Semester Two reports. These will be available to parents on Parent Lounge on TASS on Monday 4 December. A seesaw message will go out on Monday when the reports are ready to be viewed.
Parents and Friends (P & F)
The P& met on Tuesday 28 November. I would like to thank them for all of their work this year, especially the purchase of items such as decodable readers, Math resources and I Pads to support student learning this year.
A special thanks to Chrissie Richards and Jane Heller who will be finishing up this year. Their years of service on the P&F have been much appreciated by the school.
Year Six Graduation service
We will formally farewell our Year Six students at the Graduation service on Wednesday 6 December at 630pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. We wish all our students God’s richest blessings as they move onto their new schools in 2024. As our Year Six students move on I hope they will leave us with renewed hope and optimism for their new adventures they face.
Psalm 71:14 As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
As this is the last newsletter of the year, I would like to wish all our families a restful and peaceful Christmas break. Thank you for your continued support of the school. Students return on Tuesday 30 January and our Kindergarten students first day will be Thursday 1 February.

From The ACTING DEPUTY Principal
With just 5 days remaining for our students, we hope the next week is a special time for our families and students to reflect on 2023. May we all be grateful for the friends we have made, the joys that we have shared, the learning experiences we have had and the season of celebration we have ahead of us.
Team 6 Celebration
Last night our Team 6 students had the opportunity to celebrate their years together with an Amazing Race, dinner together, disco, photo slideshow and speeches from our Vice Captains. We hope our Team 6 students enjoyed this time together, making more memories and reminiscing about their time together at Lutheran School Wagga Wagga.
Assembly
On Friday 1 December at 2:20pm we will hold our end of year assembly. There will be a number of awards presented, including an announcement of the winner of the House Summit Cup. Parents are most welcome to attend.
Mini Orientation
Next Monday, 4 December, students will attend ‘Mini O’ for about an hour in the morning session. This is an important experience where students can spend time in their new learning environment for 2024 and hear about opportunities they will have next year. I am sure this will be a valuable experience for all of our students.
Anglicare Food Donations
Please be reminded that families can make a food donation to Anglicare to support their work. Donations can be placed under the Christmas tree in the school office.

Closing Chapel
Closing Chapel will be held on the last day of school (Thursday 7th December) from 2:20pm. During this time students in each Stage will be singing a Christmas song, we will be presenting our Term 4 Values Awards and will close our year in worship.
Thank you Parents and Carers
May I also take this opportunity to thank all of our parents and caregivers for walking alongside us this year in championing your children with their learning and development. We are so appreciative of all that you do to support us as a school. We wish you a happy and safe Christmas and New Year, and hope that the change of pace that school holidays bring is a rejuvenating and enjoyable time for all of our students and families.

Values Focus
Our chapel services this term have been exploring stories of people of faith as told in the Hebrew scriptures, and as we approach the end of the term, we hear the stories of Zechariah, Elizabeth, Mary and Joseph.
Matthew’s Gospel begins with the genealogy of Jesus, many of the people we’ve been introduced to this term are included in it, Abraham and Sarah, Isaac, Rahab and David.
Perhaps I could retell the first chapter of Matthew like this. Once upon a time a baby was born, and another baby was born, and another baby was born, and another baby was born and another… and then an angel visited Zechariah and a John was born and an angel visited Mary and Joseph and Jesus was born…
Some people might be surprised that God comes to us as a baby, why in the world would God choose a baby?
It seems to me that the Gospel of Matthew is reminding us that this is always the way that God reaches out to us, that God tries to change the world. Why would we be surprised that, the story of God which we tell at Christmas is of God coming as a baby?
And, let me remind you all that the story of God continues today, right here, right now. For one day you were born, and the students at our school were born, each with a call of God on their lives, each with the hope that they will participate in God’s story, live out God’s dream of peace, love, hope and joy for the world.
May this Christmas bring you all great joy and peace.
Shalom,
Darren Wright

School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships
On Tuesday 21 November Ryan Jose travelled to Launceston, Tasmania for the School Sport Australia Track and Field Championship. Students from New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, NT and the ACT were competing at this event.
Ryan was competing in the 11 Years Boys 200m and the 800m Sprint Medley Relay.
Ryan performed extremely well at his second consecutive School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships. Not only did he record a personal best (PB) in the 11 Years Boys 200m, Ryan was a member of the NSW Team who won bronze in the 800m Sprint Medley.
The 800m Sprint Medley Relay is not traditionally run at school carnivals. This event consists of four runners who run a combined total of 800m. First and second run 200m, third runs 100m and fourth runs 300m. Ryan was the second runner for the NSW team. The NSW team completed the 800m in 1:51.86, 0.40 seconds behind Victoria (gold medallist).
Ryan placed 7th in the 11 Years Boys 200m Final. His 200m time of 27.33 was 0.33 seconds faster than his PSSA Athletics Championships time and 2.44 seconds faster than his LSWW Athletics Carnival time. Amazing improvements in 6 months!
A big thank you to Agnes and Richard Jose for transporting and supporting the Ryan at this event. The school is extremely proud of Ryan’s 2023 Athletics achievements and wish him all the best in 2024.
