MISSION STATEMENT

To work under God in partnership with parents to provide an inclusive, nurturing and high quality education for every student.

VIsion

Flourishing through faith, belonging and the pursuit of excellence.

From The ACTINg Principal

The holidays are almost upon us. After what has been quite a lengthy, (11 week), and somewhat uncertain term, it’s been humbling to be part of the Lutheran community and to see everyone pull together to provide safe and enjoyable spaces for your children. Thank you, parents and friends, for your continued support of our school.

There will be a few changes to our staffing structure in Term 2 so please look out for a SeeSaw message and email which will be sent tomorrow providing a detailed update. However, regarding updates on the principal for Term 2, Mrs Genevieve Clark will be Acting Principal on Monday to Thursday, and I will continue working every Friday for Term 2. I look forward to working alongside Genevieve and continuing to build relationships amongst staff and students.

This term has seen students from across our school participate in a wide range of activities, on the sporting field and within the classrooms. There’s been Easter, Harmony week celebrations, NAPLAN, school camps and excursions. There has been a lot happening!

I’d like to take the opportunity as Term 1 comes to a close, to thank the staff here at Lutheran for their hard work and dedication. Teachers, Learning Assistants and Administration staff… you all contribute to what makes our school great. Thank you!

Please enjoy a relaxing Autumn break and I look forward to seeing everyone return to school on Tuesday 30th April.

Hollie Kinning
Acting Principal

From The ACTING DEPUTY Principal

We have almost made it to the end of term, and what a great term it has been. We have enjoyed watching all of our students strive to succeed and enjoy great progress, friendship and fun. We wish all our community a happy and safe school holiday period.

School Holiday Date Reminders
Please note that school will finish tomorrow (Thursday 11th April) as teachers will be conducting Parent Teacher Conferences on the Thursday evening and Friday.
Students will return to school on Tuesday 30th April (Monday is a pupil free staff development day).

Cross Country Carnival
We enjoyed the most perfect weather for our Cross Country Carnival last week. We wanted to sincerely thank the large number of parent volunteers that supported staff with running a fantastic carnival. Seeing our students cheer each other on and participate in this event showed great embodiment of our school values and spirit.

Uniform
Please note a small change to our Winter Uniform. After feedback from many students and parents, students can now wear either their woolen jumper OR their sport jumper with their Winter dress uniform.

A reminder that we have a two-week changeover period from Summer to Winter uniform (Term 2 Weeks 1 & 2). During this time, students can wear either Summer uniform or Winter uniform (BUT please not a combination of both).

ANZAC Day
This year ANZAC Day will fall during the school holidays. Thank you to those students that have returned their notes to let us know they will be participating in the march with our school. On this day, our Captains will lay a wreath at the cenotaph.

On the first day back of school, students will participate in an ANZAC Day service here at school. This service will involve SRC Members laying a wreath near our school flagpole, listening to the last post, and hearing a member of our Armed Services speak.

Wishing you all a restful and safe break from school.

Lauren Forsyth
Acting Deputy Principal

Values Focus

How does your household measure time? Has the end of daylight savings sent your home into a bit of chaos? The Church measures time in seasons, (Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter), the school year is broken up by terms and term breaks. Time is a fickle thing, we never seem to have enough of it, or it doesn’t go fast enough, perhaps we need to appreciate what time we have and use it well?

Ecclesiastes reminds us that time is a gift, there is a time for everything, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to weep and a time to laugh. As we reach the end of term perhaps we can reflect on the gifts of time we’ve receive this year so far.

This term we have enjoyed the gift of time spent with your children, there has been a time to teach and a time to be taught, a time to listen and to speak.

We remember the many blessings from the time Dylan Evans has led us and the gifts received from the time Hollie Kinning has spent with us this year. We give thanks for the time our staff has spent on creating a safe and educational learning environment for our students.

We also give thanks for the time and support we receive from you, the parents, and carers for the way you’ve supported the sporting activities, camps, excursions, fundraising and everything else that’s happened this year.

We all pray that this term break is a gift for you all, with time to recuperate, refresh, refocus and time to enjoy each other’s company.

We’ll see you soon.

Shalom

Darren

Curriculum Matters

Celebration of Writing – 1W

Students in Year 1 have been reading many beautiful stories about friendships. One of our focus texts was titled ‘Amira’s Suitcase’ by Vikki Conley. Students were able to use nouns and verbs to describe the characters actions. They then drew an illustration that matched their writing.
