MISSION STATEMENT

To work under God in partnership with parents to provide an inclusive, nurturing and high quality education for every student.

VIsion

Flourishing through faith, belonging and the pursuit of excellence.

From The Principal

It’s great to finally be here at Lutheran School officially! I’m feeling very welcomed by the community and looking forward to journeying together this year and in the future.

There has been a lot happening over the break here at Lutheran School. Firstly, our new K-2 Playground looks amazing! The area was overdue for an improvement and the result it great! Our students have been enjoying playing on the new equipment and relaxing on the synthetic grass surrounding the area.

Also over the break the old demountable buildings were removed. These buildings were once used as classrooms, but for many years now they have been used as storage. It was quite something to see them ‘flying’ out of the school grounds. A cement slab has now been laid where they once sat, behind the Year 6 classrooms, and a new maintenance/storage shed will be constructed in the coming weeks.

We have also upgraded our existing solar system by adding an extra 55kw of solar power. The extra panels were installed on the roofs of Year 4, 5 & 6 classrooms.
The project is being funded by a special purpose grant from the AIS NSW BGA to assist schools in managing energy costs and improve environmental sustainability.
Solar in schools may also provide practical lessons for students about their contribution to the environment and the positive impact on reducing carbon emissions.

Finally, our PA system has been needing some attention for a while as it was difficult to hear announcements in certain areas of the school. This has been adjusted and we can safely say that this announcement and bell system can now also be heard in Lake Albert! Needless to say, we are adjusting the levels!

I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing many school families at our upcoming Spring Fair next Saturday 2nd November. A massive thank you to the parents who are organising the event… many hands make light work. No doubt it will be a wonderful opportunity for us to connect and build relationships with our school community and also the wider community. Let’s all pray for good weather!

Principal For A Day

As part of the Silent Auction for the Spring Fair, your child can be Principal for a Day!

The child of the winning bidder will:

  1. Lead School Assembly
  2. Read with Kindergarten students
  3. Walk around to observe classrooms in all year levels
  4. Contribute to the school newsletter
  5. Advise on purchases for 2025
  6. Make an important decision…

A once-in-a-lifetime, amazing experience for one of our students!

I wonder who it will be?

Looking ahead to Term 4 and planning for 2025
As a school, we continue to focus on students’ connection with one another. Students who have a sense of belonging will experience feelings of security, identity and community, which in turn supports their academic, psychological and social development. We know that you want that for your children too.

In Term 4, we begin planning for the transition into the new year levels. We will not know which teachers will be in which year levels, and we won’t know that until late in Term 4. Hence, we don’t take any specific teacher requests for subsequent years. However, if you have things you would like us to consider in the placement of your child into a classroom in 2025, please email us at [email protected].

Your requests cannot be guaranteed but will be given careful thought in our planning.

Principal

Values Focus

We kick off the final term with the whole school worshipping together and there are a lot of things to be grateful for and to celebrate, and so we begin by turning to the Psalms again to find songs of praise and thanks. Psalm 95 and 100 immediately come to mind, “Sing joyful songs to the Lord” and “Make a joyful noise to the Lord of the Earth” and that’s exactly what we’ve done in chapel, make a joyful noise!

It’s great to have everyone together, singing, praying, and dancing, it reminds me of times where my whole family is together, all the kids under the same roof, the noise, the joy, the hope…

What are you grateful for? How do you give thanks for all you have?

At our home we often will share what we’re grateful for as we eat tea together at the end of the day, giving thanks for all we’ve received and experienced. Maybe, as the year is coming to an end you’d like to start a list of all the things you’re thankful for this year and give thanks for everything with a joyful noise?

Shalom

Darren

Curriculum Matters

Celebration of Writing – 1G
1G have been learning how to write to persuade. They have been writing in various persuasive forms. Here are some fabulous examples of persuasive letters to their classroom chairs after the chairs went on strike!

Maths Olympiad
Congratulations to our Maths Olympiad team for their remarkable performance in this year’s competition! We are proud to announce that eight of our students finished in the top 25%, with an impressive six achieving a spot in the top 10%. This incredible accomplishment highlights the talent and hard work of our Year 6 students. A special thank you to Mrs Whatmuff and Mrs Wadley for their dedication and coordination in making this event a success. Well done, team!

Mastermind
We are excited to announce the launch of our annual Mastermind competition! This year, students from Years 2 to 6 will showcase their general knowledge skills in a series of events. The competition consists of three initial rounds, a semi-final, and culminates in the Grand Final in Week 4.

The Grand Final will take place on Friday 8th November and parents of finalists will be invited to attend.

Water Polo Gala Day

On Wednesday 16 October, our school participated in the inaugural Wagga Water Polo Gala Day at the Oasis Aquatic Centre. We entered one Stage 3 team in this event. Our team played three games against South Wagga Public and Mater Dei Catholic School. Our students had lots of fun, developed their skills and displayed impressive sportsmanship.

A big thank you to Shannon Guiton for coaching our team, Terri Inglis for coordinating this event and our parent spectators for supporting the students.
