From The Principal
This week I shared in Monday morning devotion about the importance of community. There have been many events of late that have helped to see and feel the sense of community that Lutheran embodies. I genuinely feel blessed to be part of this community and I pray you feel the same.
Spring Fair
Firstly, a massive shoutout to the many volunteers who made the Spring Fair the success it was. It’s a blessing to have passionate parents such as Ketura Weston who did an amazing job making the Spring Fair happen. It also takes a team and there are many people who put their hands up to help. Thank you! Although it’s a major fundraiser for our P&F, it’s also so much more than this. If opportunities aren’t provided for the school to come together, a community won’t flourish to its full potential. I’m very grateful for all who helped, in small and large ways, and will be excited to see it happen again in two years’ time.
Colour Run
What an afternoon it was! Another example of our school coming together for a common cause. I was blown away by the generosity of our school community to support our Year 6s with their legacy gift. It was such a fun, colourful way to spend the afternoon enjoying one another’s company. Well done to the Year 6 team for organising such a wonderful school event. I’m very impressed!
CMRI
Recently, eight Year 6 students spent the day engaging in community service at the Children’s Medical Research Institute Christmas Fair. Service is one of our Lutheran Values. Service in the Bible is an act of humility, love and selflessness that reflect our devotion to God and our fellow human beings. Jesus Christ is our perfect example of service, as He came not to be served, but to serve others and give his life as a ransom for many. This was a great opportunity for students to show what our school does well, and a learning opportunity of putting others’ needs above their own.
Responsible Pet Program
Last Thursday the ‘Living Safely with Pets Program’ was run with our Kindy and Year 1 classes. Pet Educator Judy and her beautiful dog Boots visited our school.
Here’s what some of our students said they learned from the program.
KM- Ivy – If you meet a dog, you don’t know stand back.
KM- Audrey- When you see a dog and you want to pat it ask the owner first.
KH – Reuban – When you see a scary dog you have to stand still and look at the ground.
1W- Harriet- We shouldn’t walk up to a dog if its scared or tied up on a leash.
1G – Aithan – If the dog is angry with its ears up and prickly fur don’t go near it and stand very straight and quiet.
Year 3 excursion to Altina Wildlife Park and Lake Talbot Pool
Last Friday Year Three had their big day out, visiting Altina Wildlife Park and Lake Talbot.
The students were educated by the zookeepers as they drove around on carts, getting up close to animals such as giraffes and tigers.
At the pool, students were constantly going down the slides, seeing who could reach the bottom the quickest. They also enjoyed the splash park and played ball sports in the pool. The students were amazing and had lots of fun!
Kindergarten Transition
It’s hard to believe that another year has almost passed and we are now preparing to welcome new students and families into our school family. 2025 Kinder Transition has begun smoothly and our new students are really enjoying meeting new friends and their teachers. We had a wonderful parent information session whilst the Teddy Bear’s Picnic was held. It was fantastic to have conversations with new and old families and to share about our school. We look forward to welcoming many new families to our community in 2025 as we embark on a 7-year partnership together.
We certainly do have a strong community at Lutheran. I look forward to continuing to grow and learn as we do community together.

Values Focus
If you’ve been walking around the shops you’d have noticed that Christmas decorations are up, mince pies and Christmas cakes are on shelves and Bunnings is full of lighting ideas, though, I’m yet to hear any Christmas music. You know it’s getting serious when the Christmas albums start getting played.
This week’s Chapel we heard Mary’s song from Luke chapter 1, it’s one of my favourite pieces of scripture. In the song Mary sings:
God All-Powerful has done
great things for me,
and his name is holy.
He always shows mercy
to everyone
who worships him.
The Lord has used
his powerful arm
to scatter those
who are proud.
God drags strong rulers
from their thrones
and puts humble people
in places of power.
God gives the hungry
good things to eat,
and sends the rich away
with nothing.
I think Christmas songs are more enjoyable when they’re sung by a group, that as more people join in the song gets better. Perhaps the same can be said for Mary’s song, if we all join in naming the wonderous things God has done, practicing gratitude, maybe we’ll find it easier to share the joy of the season this year with all around us?
Over the course of the final weeks of the year we’ll be learning a few Christmas songs in chapel, some of them will be old favourites, others will be newer, as we do we’ll be pondering what they might have to say to us about God and the world around us.
Shalom
