From The Principal
Starting the week with Patience
Every Monday, I begin the week with our teaching and administration staff by sharing a devotion. This week, I spoke about a virtue that’s both essential and elusive: patience.
In 2 Peter 1:5–7, we’re reminded of the spiritual progression that shapes our character:
“Make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.”
Patience isn’t something we can simply read about and instantly master. It’s a virtue forged through repetition, challenge, and grace. Personally, it’s a lesson I revisit constantly—again and again and again.
I recently came across the original Webster’s definition of patience, and it struck a chord:
“The suffering of afflictions, pain, toil, calamity, provocation or other evil, with a calm, unruffled temper; endurance without murmuring or fretfulness, from a kind of heroic pride, or from a Christian submission to the divine will.”
The phrase that stood out most? “Endurance without murmuring.” That’s a tough one. I can be incredibly patient in some situations—and surprisingly impatient in others. Waiting for the microwave to finish, sitting in traffic, dealing with unpredictable drivers, navigating bedtime negotiations with children who suddenly remember every excuse under the sun… the list is endless!
What’s testing your patience today?
1 Corinthians 13:4 reminds us that love is patient. And Jesus, our ultimate example, embodied patience throughout His earthly ministry. He endured hardship, faced opposition, and waited for the appointed time to fulfill His mission—all with unwavering trust in God’s plan.
Practicing patience requires discipline and a shift in perspective. It’s not about perfection—it’s about progress. It’s about trusting that each step, no matter how small, is part of a greater journey.
So this week, I pray you meet each challenge with calm endurance, trusting in God’s perfect timing—especially in the moments beyond your control.
Blessings,

Student Learning Conferences
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming student learning conferences.
It has been a couple of years since we’ve held this style of conference, and our students can’t wait to share their learning with you. During these sessions, your child will take the lead — presenting three pieces of their recent work and explaining the thinking, skills, and effort that went into each one. They’ll also reflect on their successes, talk about challenges they’ve overcome, and share their goals for what’s next. This is a wonderful opportunity to see your child’s growth through their own eyes, to celebrate their achievements, and to connect with them about their learning journey. We’d love to see every family come along and be part of this special moment.
Our Student Learning Conferences will be held on the following dates:
Monday 22 September – 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm (KW & 3MT only)
Tuesday 23 September – 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm (KW & 3MT only)
Thursday 25 September – 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm (all other classes)
Friday 26 September – 8:30 am to 12:00 pm (all other classes)
Bookings for your 12-minute time slot will open via a link provided in the Week 6 newsletter.
SRC initiative – Trash Free Tuesday
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) is excited to launch Trash Free Tuesday! Each Tuesday, students are encouraged to bring lunches and snacks with as little rubbish as possible, especially avoiding single-use plastics and non-recyclable packaging. At the start of each Tuesday, SRC members will count non-recyclable waste in their classes lunchboxes, and the class with the lowest total at the end of the term will win a cool ice-block treat! This fun initiative helps reduce waste at school, care for our environment, and build great sustainable habits.
Quick Pick Up reminder – name tags
Please remember to have your Quick Pick-Up name tag clearly displayed on your dashboard when collecting your child. This helps our staff quickly see your family name as you drive into the pick-up area, allowing us to call your child/ren promptly and keep the process smooth and efficient. Having your name tag visible ensures we can move the line quickly and safely for all families.

Red Ball Tennis
Stage 2 have been enjoying Red Ball Tennis with Zac Burhop from South Wagga Tennis Club. In their weekly lesson they have learnt some basic tennis skills and refined skills learnt from previous sessions. The skills that they have focused on included back hand and volley hit. They also learnt how to hit the ball from a bounce, how to hold your racket, how to stand to be ready to hit, where to stand on the court, and to take your time to be accurate with your hits.
Last Friday, some students put these skills into action at the Todd Woodbridge Cup, enjoying energetic and competitive matches against students from other schools and spending time with their friends. The students showed great sportsmanship, encouraging each other and playing with enthusiasm.

Book Week Wrap Up
A huge thank you to everyone who supported Book Week 2025! Our students had an amazing time, with inspiring author talks, a creative and fun-filled Book Parade, and a successful Book Fair.
We also want to extend our gratitude to all the families who made purchases at the Book Fair. Your support helps us to acquire new reading resources for our library, benefiting all of our students.
For those who purchased sold-out books, we’ve placed reorders, and we expect to receive those in the coming weeks. Once they arrive, the items will be delivered directly to the classrooms.
Thank you again for your continued support!
Author Visit
During Book Week, our K-2 students had the exciting opportunity to meet local author Katrina Roe. Katrina shared the journey behind her books, discussing the inspiration for her stories and how she brings them to life. The students had a chance to ask questions about the creative process and learn about how books are published from start to finish.
For those interested in purchasing Katrina’s books, orders can be placed through the form sent home last week, or directly on her website at https://katrinaroe.com/.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
We’re thrilled to share that 26 students have already completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year! It’s fantastic to see so many students developing a love for reading and engaging with a wide range of literature.
There’s still plenty of time to join them — the challenge doesn’t close until 19th September. Don’t forget to log your completed books online before the deadline!
Keep reading and enjoy the journey through stories!
