Flourishing through faith, belonging and the pursuit of excellence.
From The Principal
We’re now into the second half of Term 3 and there has been plenty to celebrate across our school community. We’ve seen outstanding sporting achievements from students across various year levels, showcasing teamwork, determination, and school spirit. Several individual students have also taken part in the ICAS assessments, challenging themselves academically and representing our school with pride. With Tournament of Minds (TOM) just around the corner, excitement is building as teams prepare to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Introducing Our New Parent Feedback Group
We’re excited to launch a new initiative this term: a Parent Feedback Group. Each term, a small group of parents will be invited to join me for a one-hour session to share thoughts, ideas, and feedback on various aspects of school life. These sessions are designed to strengthen our partnership and ensure your voices are heard in shaping our school community.
If you’re interested in being part of this new initiative, please click the link below to complete a short online form. To keep the conversation meaningful and inclusive, each session will be limited to a maximum of 10 parents.
First Session Date:
Thursday, 11th September
Time: 2:30 – 3:20 pm

We look forward to hearing your insights and working together to make our school the best it can be!
Thank you to all families for your ongoing partnership and encouragement. Wishing you every blessing for the weeks ahead — may they be filled with joy, growth and connection.
Blessings,

Celebrating Fathers and Special Friends
Next week, we look forward to celebrating our dads and the special father-like figures in our lives!
On Wednesday 3rd September, the P&F will be running a Father’s Day Stall during school hours. Students will have the opportunity to choose a small gift for their dad or a special father-like friend. This experience is always such fun—not so much about the gift itself, but about recognising and showing appreciation for those who mean so much to us. We also acknowledge that this can be a sensitive time for some children and warmly encourage them to choose something for another significant figure in their lives.
Then on Friday morning, we’re excited to host a Father’s Day Breakfast from 8:15–8:45am. Afterwards, we’d love for dads and special friends to stay and join us for Chapel at 9:00am.
For catering purposes, please RSVP via the link below by Tuesday 3 September.

SRC initiative – Trash Free Tuesday
Thank you to our classes (& parents) who have been challenging themselves to be as trash free as possible on Tuesday’s – a challenge that’s good for the planet and full of fun!
Every Tuesday, we’re encouraging students to pack lunches and snacks that are as rubbish-free as possible. That means saying goodbye to single-use plastics and tricky packaging, and hello to clever “nude food” lunchboxes.
Here’s how it works:
✅ Each Tuesday, SRC members will check their class lunchboxes for non-recyclable waste.
✅ The class with the lowest total by the end of the term will win a cool ice-block party!
It’s a simple way to make a big difference with less waste at school, healthier habits for the future, and a greener world for everyone.
Parent Tip: Try packing food in reusable containers, beeswax wraps, or snack boxes instead of cling wrap and plastic bags. Buying snacks in bulk and portioning them out is another easy win!
Let’s team up as a school community to make every Tuesday Trash Free Tuesday!
Wagga Eisteddfod Performances
Over the coming weeks, several of our students will be representing our school at the Wagga Eisteddfod.
Our School Choir will perform on Thursday 4th September.
On Friday 12th September, Miss Guymer’s two Dance Teams will take the stage.
Finally, on Friday 19th September, Year 1 will participate in the Choral Speech section.
We wish all of our students the very best as they share their wonderful talents!
Students not feeling well
Just a reminder that, if your child is feeling unwell and displaying cold and flu like symptoms, they should stay at home until they are symptom free. It is so important that we all do our part in ensuring we keep our school community fit and healthy. Thanks for your cooperation with this.

Stage In The Spotlight
Kindergarten Discover Aussie Animals
Kindergarten has been full of excitement as our students dive into the fascinating world of Australian animals.
As part of our writing unit, they are learning how to create simple information reports.
With the support of scaffolds, students are beginning to label diagrams and record interesting facts about unique native creatures such as the koala, platypus, echidna, wombat and dugong.
This approach is helping students understand how writing can be used to share knowledge.
We are already seeing growing independence as they build their skills and confidence. It’s been a joy to watch our young learners engage so enthusiastically with their writing, all while discovering more about the amazing animals that call Australia home.

Values Focus
Help Us See and Welcome
This term we’re talking about Compassion in Chapel, starting with stories which show how compassion helps us see and welcome each other. When we see someone cry, yawn, or laugh something in us responds because we know what it is like to feel sad, or to be tired, or to feel laughter… that feeling is called empathy. Empathy leads to compassion, I see your hurt, I feel your hurt, and I want to help ease your hurt, or sit with you as you hurt.
At the heart of compassion is the need to see, we can’t experience empathy if we’re looking away or ignoring each other.
I wonder if that’s why the core of Jesus’ ministry was eating with people, when people eat together, they can see each other, when Jesus ate with the poor, the hurt, the sick, the tax collectors he could truly see them and show them compassion. Perhaps that’s why he’d put rich people in positions when they’d need to eat with, and see ‘people who were struggling, or who were outsiders, so they might begin to experience empathy, compassion, and see that every single person is important and loved by God.
Bible stories we’ve shared this term: Luke 15:11-32 and Luke 14:15-24
Questions for conversation at the dinner table: Who sits with you at your dinner table? What do you talk about? / How do you welcome each other when someone’s had a hard day or doesn’t want to sit at the table?
Wellbeing
Anxiety & Young People
Anxiety is a natural and expected part of growing up. In fact, it plays an important role in helping young people prepare for challenges, stay alert to potential dangers and adapt to new situations. It can motivate them to study for a test, practise before a performance, or tread carefully in unfamiliar settings. However, for many children and adolescents today, anxiety can shift from being a helpful response to becoming intense, persistent and disruptive.
The world young people are growing up in is fast-paced and often demanding. Academic pressures, social expectations, family changes and the constant presence of digital media can all contribute to heightened stress and worry.
When anxiety is left unrecognised or unsupported, it can begin to affect a young person’s wellbeing, learning, friendships and self-confidence. That’s why it’s so important for adult carers to understand how anxiety may present in children. Everyone experiences anxiety differently, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.
This edition of SchoolTV raises awareness and provides families with practical strategies to help young people manage anxiety in healthy, constructive ways.

P&F News
It is definitely a busy end to Winter and the start of Spring!
Cocktail Party
Our much anticipated annual LSWW P&F Cocktail Party was held last Friday night at Uneke Warehouse. As promised, it was a night of good music and great food, celebrating our wonderful parent community. We hope that those in attendance had as great a night as we all did. Thank you for joining us!
Tournament of Minds
ToM is almost upon us and it is shaping up to be a spectacular event!
We have a unique opportunity to fundraise and showcase our fantastic school and community and all profits from our fundraising go back into the school, so every donation really does make a difference.
A reminder on how you can help:
| Volunteer on the day | Can you spare an hour or two on the day to make sandwiches, assist in the canteen, help out with the chocolate trailer or cook a BBQ? We’ll be at the school from about 7am until mid-afternoon. Grab a couple of friends and come along together! If you can volunteer some of your time, please contact Jodie on 0408 413 535. Thank you to those that have already volunteered. |
| Cake stall | Can you bake something to be sold on the cake stall? Slices, small individual cakes and family sized cakes are always so well received. Baked goods can be dropped off at the school office on Saturday afternoon (30 August) between 1–3pm. |
| Soup & bread rolls | It is likely to be cold, so we want to offer soup and a bread roll for sale throughout the day. Can you make a slow cooker of soup and provide a dozen dinner rolls? Please contact Jodie on 0408 413 535 if you can help in this way. |
| Shopping items | In order to cater and have food offerings for sale, we need groceries. Thank you to those who have already generously donated grocery items – it is very much appreciated. Below is a link to our grocery wish list – there are still some items left – can you help out by purchasing one or more of those items? If there is something on the list that you can contribute, note your name next to the item so we can track what we have. Items can be dropped into the school office anytime during office hours, or on Saturday afternoon (30 August) between 1–3pm. |
| Chocolate trailer | Donations of chocolate bars of all shapes and sizes are welcomed. In addition to the food offerings, the P&F will also be running a chocolate trailer. It is a big hit at our Spring Fair and we think it will be just as great at ToM. Donations can be dropped into the office during office hours any day up until Friday, 29 August. |
