Welcome Back to Term 4!
As we step into the final term of the school year, we extend a warm welcome back to all students, staff, and families. Term 4 is always a special time, particularly for our Year 6 students, filled with reflection, celebration, and preparation for the year ahead. We look forward to a term rich with learning, connection and community spirit with some very exciting events coming up… The Colour Run is always a fun community day!
This term, we also take a moment to say a heartfelt farewell to Sara Durning, who will be finishing up in Week 3. Sara has made a significant impact in the wellbeing space during her time with us, and her dedication, warmth, and care have been deeply appreciated by students and staff alike. She will be greatly missed.
Sara will be moving into a classroom teaching position at TRAC, and we wish her every success and happiness as she begins this exciting new chapter. Thank you, Sara, for everything you’ve contributed to our school community.
As we plan for the year ahead, here are the official term dates for 2026. Please mark these dates in your calendars.
We’re looking forward to a wonderful Term 4 together!

From The DEPUTY Principal
Welcome back to the final term of the year! I hope the holidays provided your family with time to rest, reconnect and recharge. It has been wonderful to see students returning to school with smiles, renewed energy and excitement for the term ahead. Their laughter and enthusiasm are a wonderful reminder of the vibrant community we share.
Term 4 is always a busy and rewarding time, filled with learning, growth and celebration. With so much happening in the weeks ahead, I’m excited to share with you some important updates and upcoming events…
Grandparents Day
We are looking forward to welcoming our wonderful grandparents and special older guests on Thursday, 30th October. Please ensure you RSVP for your grandparent or special older friend by Monday https://forms.office.com/r/NvgKw817Jd
so that we can finalise catering arrangements. Our students are excited to share chapel and spend some time together in the classroom during their visit. Please see our previous email about this event for more information.
SRC happenings
At the end of last term, the SRC organised a Pyjama Day fundraiser in support of a local family whose children are affected by AT. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we raised $376.70 to assist them. Students also enjoyed a fun community moment in the chapel, where 75 students joined in for a game of UNO during the lunch break, followed by another 42 students during afternoon tea. It was wonderful to see so many students connecting and supporting a meaningful cause.
Looking ahead, Friday 31st October is Day for Daniel. The SRC is proud to support this important child safety initiative and encourages everyone to wear a touch of red—such as a hairband, scrunchie, socks or hat. During the day, classes will engage in a lesson that highlights the significance of child safety and the message behind Day for Daniel. More information can be found at the Daniel Morcombe Foundation website.
Term 4 Clubs
Clubs will run on Friday afternoons in Weeks 1, 3 & 4 only.
Year 6 Fundraising Colour Run
Year Six will be hosting a Colour Run on the school grounds to raise funds for their legacy gift. Students can participate in the Colour Run or choose to join the Walkathon instead – parents must email the class teacher by the end of Week 3 to opt out of the Colour Run.
What to Wear: Mufti, enclosed shoes, and a white shirt for the Colour Run. Safety goggles and face masks are optional. Students catching the bus home must bring a change of clothes! Every participant will receive an ice block after the event.
Sponsorship & Prizes: Students are encouraged to seek sponsorship from family and friends. For every $25 raised, they will receive a ticket in the prize draw held on the day. The major prize is a $300 birthday party at a local venue, with additional prizes including vouchers, sporting equipment, and more.
Class Prizes: The highest fundraising class in K-2 and 3-6 will win a hot chip lunch.
A big thank you to all Team Six families for their generous prize donations!
CMRI Christmas Fair
This Friday a group of our Team 6 students will be participating in a service task, volunteering at the Children Medical Research Institutes’ Christmas Fair. We thank these students in advance for their time and support for such a worthy and special event.
Kindergarten 2026 Transition to School
At the end of Week 3 we begin the formal process of welcoming our Kindergarten 2026 students and families to our school for the transition to school program. The Kinder Transition program provides a great opportunity for our new students to develop relationships with teachers, develop friendships and experience the new school environment. Kindergarten 2026 will also get to meet their Team Six Buddies (current Year 5 students).
School Uniform
Students are now required to be in full summer school uniform. Jackets/jumpers can of course be worn if the weather is cool in the mornings.
A reminder from the parent handbook:
Hair ALL students are required to wear their hair tied back if it is longer than shoulder length or if it’s long enough to fall forward to hinder vision during classroom or sports activities. Hair accessories including ribbons, hair bands and hair clips are permitted in navy, dark/jade green or the fabric of our summer or winter uniform. Razored-in designs and hair colour washes do not meet the uniform requirements.
Jewellery Students may wear a plain wrist watch, a simple smart watch may be worn however all functions must be disabled during school hours, a small silver or gold cross and matching fine chain and a Medic Alert bracelet if required. If students wear other jewellery this becomes a safety issue. Students with pierced ears may wear small plain silver or gold studs or sleepers. Only one ear piercing is permitted.
Makeup Makeup and nail polish are not permitted.
Social Media
There has been significant media coverage recently about the upcoming social media regulations for children under 16. We encourage you to take some time to explore the eSafety Commissioner website and discuss these changes with your child, especially if they are already using social media platforms. It is important to continue monitoring your child’s online activity closely and to have open conversations about safe and responsible use.

As a school, we explicitly teach students the digital literacy and social-emotional skills they need to navigate the online world safely. This includes learning how to respond appropriately to incidents that may occur online, as well as understanding the expectations for working, interacting and keeping each other safe in digital spaces. We value our partnership with parents and look forward to continuing to work together in supporting children as they navigate the digital world in which we live.
Lutheran School Facebook group pages
Our closed Facebook groups provide a safe and private space for parents and caregivers to connect. They allow the school to share updates, reminders, and events securely, while ensuring student privacy and maintaining a respectful community. These groups support positive communication, help build connections among families, and align with our school’s values of care and safety.
Stay connected with your child’s year level parent group by joining (or re-joining) the appropriate Parent Facebook Group for your child’s year level. Please remember to answer the security questions to receive access. Please use the links below:

School Disco
School Disco – Wednesday 5th November
Our much-anticipated School Disco will take place on Wednesday 5th November!
Kindergarten to Year 2: 5:30pm – 6:15pm
Years 3 to 6: 6:30pm – 7:15pm
The disco will be fully supervised and run by school staff. For safety reasons, please ensure your child is marked off on the class list upon arrival, and that you sign them out when collecting them at the end of their session.
Student Leadership
We are excited to begin the 2026 Team 6 student leadership nomination and selection process! This year, we have started the process a little earlier so that our students are able to be involved in a leadership preparation day at St Paul’s Jindera in week 5 (more details will be sent home shortly). This will also allow our Captains, Vice Captains, and House Captains will be in place for the start of 2026.
Week 5 will feature student speeches, giving candidates the opportunity to share their vision and ideas. We look forward to all current Year 5 students taking on leadership next year, whether through formal positions or other opportunities, such as being a Buddy for a Kindergarten 2025 student, or a leader in Peer Support groups.
World Teachers Day
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated internationally on 5th October. As this often falls during school holidays in many parts of Australia, we acknowledge it on the last Friday of October. This day provides an important opportunity to formally recognise and celebrate the teachers who make, and have made, a meaningful impact in our lives.
Here at Lutheran School, we are grateful for the ongoing expertise, professionalism, strong relationships and genuine care our teachers bring each day. Their dedication plays a vital role in making our school such a special place.

Stage In The Spotlight
Year 3 love Maths!
We include a daily review to consolidate things learnt like times tables and division facts, number work, quick addition or subtraction facts and strategies. We also enjoy games and hands on activities with our classmates. This week we have been having fun learning to tell the time, making clocks and using them to read times, show times and calculate time lapsed.

school bus changes - edmondson street bridge closure
Changes to Bus timetables from Monday 10th November
If your child catches a bus to and from school, please make sure to check for the new bus times.
Due to the closure of the Edmonson Street bridge, this will affect traffic flow and bus routes for the next 18 months.
Some buses will be arriving after our morning bell, others will depart before the afternoon bell.
We will accommodate the changes where we can, but please let your children know about the new times.
Please see below information on the upcoming bus timetables and stops.

Basketball NSW Schools Tournament
On Tuesday 21 October, our Stage 2 and Stage 3 Boys Basketball teams competed in the Basketball NSW Schools Tournament held at the Wagga PCYC. This was the first year our school had entered the event, with our teams competing in Division 2 (Stage 3) and Division 3 (Stage 2).
Stage 2 Team
Our Stage 2 team had a terrific day, winning two of their three preliminary matches. They recorded impressive victories over Wagga Christian College 2 and St Patrick’s School Gundagai. Their only loss came against The Scots School Albury 2, a more experienced and older team.
Best players: Stirling Scott and Noah Walker.
Stage 3 Team
Our Stage 3 team enjoyed a fantastic tournament, going undefeated in their preliminary games with wins over Henschke 1, TRAC 2, and Moama Grammar. These performances earned them a spot in the grand final against Franklin Public School. Although they didn’t come away with the win, finishing as runners-up was an outstanding achievement.
Best players: Charlie Forsyth and Harry MacGregor.
Congratulations to all the boys who represented our school with pride, humility and impressive sportsmanship. A big thank you to Caleb Scott for coaching both teams, Mr Gardner for his support on the day, Nathan Elmer for assisting with table duty, and to all the parents who came along to support.
