Principal’s Report
Father’s Day Breakfast
We are looking forward to once again welcoming the fatherly figures in our students’ lives to school for our Father’s Day Breakfast on Friday 4th September. This special event is a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, celebrate the important role fathers and father figures play, and connect as a school community. If you haven’t already done so, please RSVP via the link to assist us with catering arrangements. We look forward to sharing this morning with you.

Uniform Update
Our new uniform has been on display in the school office for the past six weeks, giving families the opportunity to view the range and provide feedback. It has been wonderful to hear such positive responses, with many parents commenting favourably on the updated design. We are pleased to advise that the new uniform is expected to be available for purchase through Lowes from mid-October. Families will be notified as soon as ordering information becomes available.
While the new uniform will be introduced from 2027, there will be a two-year transition period to support a smooth changeover. This means families do not need to purchase new uniform items straight away if their current uniform is still appropriate and fits their child’s needs.
Chaplain Darren
Since joining Lutheran School Wagga Wagga at the beginning of 2023, Darren Wright has been a valued part of our school community as Chaplain. Darren recently shared with staff that he will be concluding his time with us at the end of 2026 as he prepares to begin teaching in 2027 after completing his studies.
Over the past four years, Darren has faithfully supported our students, staff, and families, while helping to ensure that chapel services have been a meaningful and enriching part of school life. We are deeply grateful for his care, encouragement, and service to our community, and we look forward to celebrating and thanking him more formally as the year draws to a close.
As we move through another busy and rewarding season of learning, it can be easy to focus on what still needs to be done rather than taking time to notice the many blessings around us. In Philippians 4:8, Paul encourages us to think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable. It is a timely reminder that gratitude helps us see God’s hand at work in both the big moments and the everyday experiences of life.
At Lutheran School, we are blessed by a caring and supportive community. Whether it is students showing kindness to one another, staff going the extra mile, parents partnering with us in their children’s learning, or the many volunteers who generously give their time, there is much to be thankful for. As we continue through the term, may we be intentional in encouraging one another and recognising the many ways God is working within our school community.

Parent Teacher interviews
At the end of this term, we will be running Parent-Teacher interviews for the whole school. These will commence on Thursday 24th September from 3:30 -7:00 pm and Friday 25th September from 9am – 3pm.
Please note, Friday 25th September is a pupil free day.
An email will be sent out when bookings are open. We encourage families to secure their time promptly.
Tournament of Minds
A huge congratulations to our two Tournament of Minds teams, TOMboms and TOMtastics, who both won their sections in Social Science and Language Literature at the Riverina Regional event on Saturday. Their creativity, commitment and many hours of weekend and after‑school work have truly paid off. We also extend our thanks to the parents who supported the teams and to those who assisted with the sausage sizzle on the day. Thank you also goes to Mrs Whatmuff for her energy and enthusiasm to guide our students through Tournament of Minds throughout this term.
The TOMboms were: Rosie Molineux, Christopher Cheung, Lilli-Paige Chesterfield, Nylah Woodland, Brodie Metcalf, Edie Hibbard and Maria Estafanos. The TOMtastics were: Indi Walker, Ayesha Yoonus, Kingsley Cheung, Joel Thompson, Angela Augustine, Ava Lomax and Audrey Fang.
Father’s Day stall
With Father’s Day just around the corner, our students will have the chance to visit the P&F run Father’s Day Stall on Wednesday 2nd September. They will get to choose a special gift for Dad, Grandad or another important person in their lives. The stall will be filled with affordable treasures, thoughtful keepsakes and a few fun surprises, giving children the joy of selecting something meaningful all on their own. It’s always a highlight of the year, and we can’t wait to see the smiles as students make their choices.
Wagga Eisteddfod Performances
Over the coming weeks, several of our students will be representing our school at the Wagga Eisteddfod.
Our School Choir will perform on Thursday 3rd September.
On Friday 4th September, Miss Guymer’s Dance Teams will take the stage.
We wish all of our students the very best as they share their wonderful talents!

Curriculum Corner
Performing Arts Showcase
As shared earlier, our Performing Arts Showcase will take place on Thursday 24th September (Week 10) at 9am. This event celebrates the creativity and dedication of students involved in the performing arts, giving them an opportunity to share their learning with peers.
We encourage families to finalise registrations and preparations over the coming weeks.
Students must be currently receiving private tuition in music, drama or dance, and may register one item only. Please complete the registration form by 5pm Thursday 3rd September (Week 7), in consultation with your child’s Music, Dance or Drama teacher. Only one form is required per group.
Performance Requirements
Items should be kept to two minutes or less, with group items no longer than four minutes. If siblings are performing, please indicate this on the form so we can place them close together in the program.
Audio & Backing Music
Any backing tracks or special audio requirements must be provided to Mr Beau Woodland (Resource Centre) by Monday 7th September (Week 8). USB, email or shared links are preferred. Please ensure all audio needs are also listed on the registration form.
Dry Run Through
Information about a rehearsal/dry run will be shared directly with registered participants closer to the date.

Wellbeing Window
Mindfulness
At school, we are learning about Mindfulness, one of the key pillars of The Resilience Project’s GEM framework (Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness). Mindfulness is about paying attention to what is happening right now, rather than worrying about the past or the future. It helps children become more aware of their thoughts, feelings and surroundings.
Simple mindfulness activities, such as taking a few slow breaths, listening carefully to sounds around us, or noticing how our body feels, can help children feel calmer and more focused. Regular mindfulness practice can support wellbeing, improve concentration and help students respond thoughtfully to challenges.

Chaplain's Chatter
Gratitude has always been an important part of God’s story with people responding to God’s goodness with songs of praise and prayers of thanksgiving. Giving thanks helps us remember that every good gift comes from God.
Jesus also reminds us not to spend our time worrying about what we do not have. In Matthew 6:25-34, He points to the birds of the air and the flowers of the field as signs of God’s loving care. If God looks after them, how much more does He care for us? In a world where we might be tempted to compare ourselves with others, with the most beautiful, the most talented, the powerful, the rich Jesus tells us to compare ourselves to the small and delicate parts of God’s creation and know that we are deeply loved and beautifully unique.
Rather than focusing on what we wish we had, we can be thankful for the gifts, talents, friendships and opportunities already in our lives. When we use these blessings to help others, show kindness and care for our community, we become part of God’s work in making the world a better place.
It’s my prayer this fortnight that our school, and your homes are filled with thankful hearts, joyful songs and grateful prayers.

P&F News
A big week coming up next week with Father’s Day just around the corner.
P&F will be holding its much loved Father’s Day stall on Wednesday, 2nd September 2026. It is so special watching the students lovingly choose their gifts.
We are looking for volunteers to help on the stall during the day. If you are available, please contact Ketura on 0421 442 218.

We are still looking for as many volunteers as we can to help make the day a success.
All families will now have received their Volunteer & Info Pack outlining the various ways you can be involved. Please read through that pack and consider how you can help and get in touch.
BACKYARD CAFE & BBQ – can you spare an hour or two on the day to help in the Cafe or on the BBQ? We are looking for people to serve food and take money. Or maybe you’re a superstar sandwich maker? We’re also looking for a few volunteers who can help us out on the morning of the event to make and wrap sandwiches in preparation.

All are welcome! Whether it is cash, prizes, silent auction items or your time, we are very grateful to receive them.
SILENT AUCTION – we are seeking a variety of donations including gift vouchers, memorabilia, holidays, fun items, and hampers. There is no specific theme for the items, so feel free to be creative! If you have something to donate, please contact Kristin Browning: kristin_browning@outlook.com
Spring Fair Meeting
Our next Spring Fair meeting will take place on Tuesday, 1 September 2026 at 7pm via Zoom, the link can be found in the School Calendar and will also be posted in both the P&F and Spring Fair WhatsApp group chats. All are welcome to join.

Book Club Issue 6

Sports Desk
Todd Woodbridge Cup – Stage 3
On Thursday 13th August, our Stage 3 Tennis teams competed at the Todd Woodbridge Cup at South Wagga tennis courts. All teams displayed excellent sportsmanship, respect and teamwork on the day. Competitive team 1 placed 1st overall and will compete at the regional finals next term.

NSW Schools Orienteering Championships
On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August, Logan Seaman competed at the NSW Schools Orienteering Championships in Orange. Logan had a successful weekend, placing 1st in the 12-year-old boys’ Middle-Distance Champs and 4th in the 12-year-old boys’ Sprint Champs.

Stage In The Spotlight
Visual Arts
Whether we are working outside collaborating with a partner on artwork or creating 3 dimensional pieces, there is always a lot of creative fun happening in the art room. It is great to see students across all grades participating enthusiastically and rising to the challenges in making their art. Art offers many opportunities to develop our designing, drawing and painting skills but it also builds resilience when problem solving how to build with different materials and make modifications to our art when moving through the making process. Here are snapshots of some of the work that our upper grades have completed.
