Social media updates
This week on Facebook and Instagram, we shared an update about the rapid rise of generative AI, the emerging risks associated with this technology, and how we are adapting the way we share images of our students online.
So, what will change?
You may have already noticed some changes to our social media posts. Moving forward, we will minimise close-up photographs of individual students, favour wider-angle and group photos where appropriate, and ensure students’ full names are not shared on our online platforms.
We know how much our community values seeing and celebrating the everyday moments that make our school such a special place. We remain committed to sharing our students’ achievements, experiences and learning journeys, while continuing to respond thoughtfully to emerging digital risks.
As technology continues to evolve, so too will our approach. We will continue to review and adapt our practices to do all we can to protect our students and their digital identities.
At the same time, we recognise how important it is for parents and caregivers to see their own child learning, participating and engaging in school life. We will be exploring the best ways to continue sharing these more personal moments with families, potentially through secure school platforms that provide a safer environment for sharing individual student images.
Thank you for your understanding, partnership and ongoing support as we take these proactive steps together.
Screen time acknowledgement
You may also have seen recent discussion around mandates for NSW public schools to reduce the amount of screen time students experience during the school day.
While these recommendations are not currently mandated for independent schools, we recognise the importance of considering what this changing landscape means for our own context. We are already beginning to explore what an appropriate and balanced approach to screen use could look like for our students.
Technology has an important place in contemporary learning, but we also know that it should not replace the value of handwriting, reading from physical texts, conversation, collaboration, practical experiences and learning away from a screen.
As a school, we will take time to consider the research, emerging recommendations and the needs of our students to ensure we strike the right balance. Our focus will remain on using technology purposefully, rather than simply frequently, and ensuring our learning practices support students to thrive both with and without technology.
Uniform
If you’ve been into Lowes recently, you may have noticed that our new school uniform has arrived and is now available for purchase.
As we prepare for 2027, we would like to clarify a few expectations around the new uniform and the transition period:
Two-year transition period: Both the current and new uniforms may be worn during the two-year changeover period.
Kindergarten to Year 2: Our K–2 students will move to wearing the sports uniform as their everyday uniform. During the two-year transition period, existing families may continue to make use of the formal uniform if they wish. In 2027, K–2 teachers will continue to advise families of PE days so that students who are wearing both uniforms can ensure they are in sports uniform when required.
K–2 footwear: Students are asked to wear plain white or black supportive sneakers. Please avoid multi-coloured shoes.
K–6 sports uniform: The sports uniform is to be worn with plain white socks only.
Years 3–6 summer formal uniform: The summer formal uniform is to be worn with plain navy socks that sit above the ankle, for both boys and girls. Knee-length socks are not required with the summer uniform.
Years 3–6 winter formal uniform: The winter formal uniform is also to be worn with navy socks, with girls also having the option of wearing navy tights.
We appreciate that a uniform change takes time, and the two-year transition period is designed to allow families to make the change gradually and make good use of existing uniform items.
Thank you for your support as we transition to our new uniform and work together to ensure our students continue to represent our school with pride.
Blessings,

Kinder Transition
Last Friday we welcomed our Kindergarten 2027 students and their families to school. It is always a joy to meet the newest members of our school community, including younger siblings of current students who are beginning their own school journey with us.
During the session, students spent time becoming familiar with their new learning environment, exploring classrooms and discovering different areas around the school grounds. These experiences help children build confidence, establish a sense of belonging and become comfortable with the routines and spaces they will enjoy next year.
We look forward to getting to know our future Kindergarten students and their families, and we are excited to partner with them as they begin this important and exciting chapter of their educational journey.
Student Leadership 2027
Next Wednesday 11th November, we look forward to hearing from our Year 5 students who have been nominated as candidates for the positions of School Captain and Vice Captain for 2027. Candidates will present their leadership speeches in the Chapel from 9:00am, and parents are warmly invited to attend and support these students as they share their ideas, aspirations and vision for our school.
The leadership speeches are an important part of the student leadership process, providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate their confidence, communication skills and commitment to serving others. It is always inspiring to see our emerging leaders step forward, challenge themselves and embrace the opportunity to make a positive contribution to our school community. We wish all candidates the very best as they prepare for this exciting milestone.
World Teachers Day
A heartfelt thank you to our P&F for their thoughtful recognition of staff for World Teachers’ Day, celebrated on 30th October. As a special gesture of appreciation, every staff member was treated to a drink of their choice from the coffee van on Thursday 29th October.
This generous act was greatly appreciated by all staff and served as a wonderful reminder of the strong partnership between our families and school. We are grateful for the ongoing encouragement, support and kindness shown by our P&F, and we thank them for helping to make our staff feel so valued and celebrated.
Day for Daniel
Thank you to everyone who participated in Day for Daniel. It was great to see so many shades of red around the school grounds.
School Disco – Wednesday 18th November
Our much-anticipated School Disco will take place on Wednesday 18th November!
Kindergarten to Year 2: 5:30pm – 6:15pm
Years 3 to 6: 6:30pm – 7:15pm
The disco will be fully supervised and run by school staff. For safety reasons, please ensure your child is marked off on the class list upon arrival, and that you sign them out when collecting them at the end of their session.

ICAS Assessments
Our students have achieved some outstanding results in the recent ICAS Assessments, and we congratulate all participants on their efforts. ICAS provides students with the opportunity to challenge themselves through high-quality academic competitions, and we are delighted to see so many students demonstrating their knowledge, skills and perseverance across a range of subject areas.
We are especially proud of those students who have been awarded Distinctions, an achievement that places them among the top 10% of students nationally in their respective assessment areas. This is a wonderful recognition of their hard work, dedication and academic excellence. All students who participated should be proud of their commitment and willingness to challenge themselves. Distinction certificates will be presented at our School Assembly this Friday morning following Chapel, and we look forward to celebrating these wonderful achievements with our school community. Congratulations to all students on their excellent results.

Learning Enrichment at LSWW
Learning Enrichment at LSWW
Working closely with many of the high schools our students transition to each year provides a valuable perspective on the impact of the learning journey our students experience at our school. Consistently, the feedback we receive is overwhelmingly positive. Secondary school leaders and teachers frequently comment on how well prepared our students are, not only academically, but also in their ability to think critically, work collaboratively, embrace challenges, and contribute positively to their learning communities. These affirmations are a testament to the strong foundations established throughout a student’s time with us and the shared commitment of our staff to providing a rich and purposeful education.
At the heart of our approach is a belief that learning enrichment is not something reserved for a select group of students or confined to a particular program. Rather, enrichment is woven through every aspect of school life. It begins with the delivery of research-informed, integrity-driven teaching and learning that is engaging, purposeful, and designed to challenge every student at their point of need. Our classrooms are places where curiosity is nurtured, questions are encouraged, and students are supported to take risks, persevere through challenges, and experience growth.
Learning enrichment at our school extends far beyond the classroom walls. Students are presented with significant opportunities across a vast array of areas including academic extension, creative and performing arts, leadership development, sport, service learning, faith formation, technology, problem-solving competitions, and community engagement initiatives. These experiences allow students to discover new passions, develop confidence, and build the skills required to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Importantly, our commitment to enrichment reflects our conviction that every child deserves opportunities for challenge and growth. We recognise that students learn differently, bring unique strengths and interests, and flourish when they are known deeply and supported intentionally. By taking the time to understand each learner, we are better able to provide pathways that inspire, stretch, and encourage them to reach their potential.
This work is a tangible expression of our school mission and vision. Each day, we seek to nurture young people who are equipped not only with knowledge and skills, but also with strong character, compassion, and a sense of purpose. Through the opportunities we provide, we intentionally cultivate our school values and empower students to live them authentically in their relationships, learning, and service to others.
As a school community, we are proud of the groundwork being laid for our students’ future success. The positive feedback we receive from our secondary school partners reinforces what we already know: when students are deeply known, challenged appropriately, and supported within a values-rich environment, they leave our school ready to embrace the opportunities ahead with confidence, resilience, and a love of learning. This is learning enrichment in action, and it is a powerful reflection of who we are and what we aspire to be as a school community.

Wellbeing Window
Wellbeing Surveys
By the end of this week, all students will have participated in our termly wellbeing surveys. Students in Kindergarten to Year 1 complete age-appropriate paper-based surveys, while students in Years 2 to 6 complete an online survey.
These surveys provide valuable opportunities for students to reflect on their wellbeing and help us identify any students who may require additional support. Teachers will review survey responses and follow up with students whose responses indicate concerns or a need for further discussion. Where appropriate, relevant information will be communicated to parents and carers.
While these surveys are an important tool in supporting student wellbeing, we also encourage all students to speak with a trusted teacher or staff member as soon as they need support, rather than waiting for the next survey. Building strong relationships and open communication is an important part of maintaining a safe, supportive and connected school environment for every child.
Thank you for partnering with us in supporting the wellbeing of our students.

Stage In The Spotlight
Kindergarten
This term in Writing, Kindergarten is learning how to create narratives. Students are planning and writing their own stories by thinking carefully about the key elements of a narrative, including a character, setting, problem and resolution. We have been using our imaginations to develop exciting story ideas and organise them into a clear beginning, middle and end. It has been wonderful to see the creativity and enthusiasm students are bringing to their storytelling.
