Feed forward-ing

In some organisations (and classrooms), the term ‘feedforward’ is used rather than ‘feedback’. We use comments that others make to plan for the future.

It’s the time of year when we ask you to give us ‘feedforward’ information so that we can serve you even better in 2023. Specifically, we want to know how you have found the academics, communication, wellbeing support and sense of community. Please complete the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/H3D7NZ2

Principal for a Day

As part of the Silent Auction for the Spring Fair, your child can be Principal for a Day!

The child of the winning bidder will:

  • Lead school assembly
  • Read with Kindergarten students
  • Walk around to observe classrooms in all year levels
  • Contribute to the school newsletter
  • Feature in the Monday video message
  • Advise on purchases for 2023
  • Make an important decision…

A once-in-a-lifetime, amazing experience for one of our students…

Who will it be???

Canteen News

Sophie and Eliza were both lucky enough to win a Rubik’s Cube after entering our Fresh for Kids program.

The canteen will randomly select two students every week until Christmas that will each win a Rubik’s Cube.

Team 6 Street Stalls

Thank you to everyone who supported the Team 6 Street Stalls on Tuesday.

A big thank you to the Team 6 students and parents for all your efforts to make the Street Stalls a huge success. It was a mammoth effort by everyone. All monies raised will be donated to Kiva, an organisation that provides micro-loans so that people around the world (especially in developing countries) access financial help for tuition, start businesses, invest in their farms and access emergency care.

Child Protection Professional Learning (PL)

Last week all staff participated in Child Protection PL that focused on changes to current legislation, ensuring our processes/procedures are up to date and our students are kept safe. The session was very useful and informative for all staff. More than just legislation, the conversation revolved around creating a culture of child safety. Many of our current processes were affirmed, especially our regular student surveys that provide students with an opportunity to share any concerns or worries. It is important that children feel safe and have a voice.

Spring Fair – Volunteers needed

Last week I attended a meeting with the Parents and Friends (P&F). A major agenda item was the planning and organisation of the Spring Fair. I would encourage as many parents as possible to volunteer some time on the Friday (set up) or Saturday to support this event. There will be lots of stalls and entertainment and even the possibility of dunking some teachers, maybe even the Deputy Principal! You can volunteer to help by adding your name to the spreadsheet here: https://forms.gle/rS9Kd4HwBpWsbuby8

I would like to thank members of the P&F who regularly volunteer their time to support the school. Please come along and support the event!

2023 Planning

If you are planning on leaving the school at the end of the year, please let the office know as soon as possible. It will help us in our planning, especially with regards to availability of school places in each grade.

Deputy Principal

2022 Spring Fair - Saturday 12 November 10am - 2pm

Now is the time to step up and support your children and the school. We need you!

We know everyone is busy with different schedules so here are two options to support the upcoming Spring Fair. All you have to do is pick one.

Option 1: Donate 1/2 hour of your time to work on a stall during the Spring Fair (Saturday, 12 Nov from 10am-2pm). Enter your details here:
https://forms.gle/rS9Kd4HwBpWsbuby8

or get in touch with Jane Heller on 0429315801 if forms are not for you.

Option 2: If you can’t spare the time or won’t be in town that day, you can donate something to be included in the silent auction. Bring items for donation to the school office no later than Wednesday, 8 November 2022.

Need silent auction ideas?

A massage or beauty voucher
Vouchers for a restaurant or hotel.
A smart watch.
Toys.
Donate something from your business (i.e. farmers donate a side of lamb, artists donate a painting, trainers donate some PT sessions). Options are endless.

NSW PSSA Athletics Championships

On Tuesday 18 October, Ryan Jose and Lachlan Tracey travelled to Sydney Olympic Park for the NSW PSSA Athletics Championships. Students from NSW Independent, Catholic and Public Schools were represented at this two-day event. It was wonderful to have the championships back on the calendar after a two-year absence due to COVID.

Ryan was competing in the 10 Years Boys 100m, Junior Boys 200m, Junior Boys Long Jump and Junior Boys High Jump. Lachlan was competing in the Senior Boys Shot Put and Senior Boys Discus.

Ryan and Lachlan performed extremely well at their first NSW PSSA Athletics Championships. The boys qualified for the finals in all their events and recorded personal best (PB) results and placings.

Not only did Ryan win a bronze medal in the Junior Boys Long Jump, he qualified for the National Track and Field Championships in Brisbane, November 17-21. Ryan’s jump of 4.47m was 87cm further than his LSWW Athletics Carnival result!

A big thank you to Richard Jose and Carly Tracey for transporting and supporting the boys at this event. The school is super grateful and super proud of the boys’ achievements. We congratulate both boys and wish Ryan all the best at the Nationals in November.

Everyone was very friendly and supportive. I was very grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to competing at the next level. Ryan Jose

I really enjoyed meeting up with old and new friends. I learnt new skills, techniques, and tips to keep improving. I would like to thank my coach and parents for their encouragement and support. Lachlan Tracey

OSHC

This week at OSHC we have been building with straws and some of the children have already made a tower taller than the ceiling! We have also decorated with sand art, made  mosaic stickers and completed sticker-by-number puzzles.

Chess and colouring continue to be a favorite pastime at OSHC and the children have been working together to complete homework.

We look forward to ‘Little Champions’ coming back again on Thursday afternoon.

We are also excited to announce that I will be welcoming a new addition to my family next year. Details in relation to OSHC staffing will be released later in the term.

We look forward to another wonderful week.
