MISSION STATEMENT

To work under God in partnership with parents to provide an inclusive, nurturing and high quality education for every student.

VIsion

Flourishing through faith, belonging and the pursuit of excellence.

From The Principal

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

As the children shared last week, Jesus was God’s love coming down from heaven to us on earth. It’s a time when we stop and think of the story from Mary’s perspective. Like any parent, she would have big hopes and dreams for her child. She must have wondered how her little boy would become King. We now know that Jesus became King through suffering, death and resurrection. Would she have been able to bear that if she had known?

I suspect that, like any parent, Mary took motherhood one day at a time – looking at the child in awe and wonder, taking care of the chores and praising God for his miracles. May you also be in awe of the miracle of Christmas.

A celebration of our graduates

Our video this week was created by Harry Richards, a Year 6 student. It takes you through the Team 6 journey from Kindergarten through this year. Enjoy the memories!

If you like to look ahead…

Medications

This time of year, some people like to get things in order for the year ahead. Others like to completely ‘park’ all thoughts of work and school until the end of January.

If you are in the ‘let-me-plan-so-I-don’t-have-to-worry-about-it-over-holiday’ camp, please note the changes (below) in medication procedures in 2023. The reason for the change is simple: we need to be compliant with regulations and, more importantly, we need to be certain we are giving our young ones their medications. Over the holiday, you will receive further information on our requirements.

Volunteering at Swimming Carnival and other events (even the first week of school!)

If you have a few minutes in January, please complete the steps to volunteer at school. Ms Stewart is always looking for volunteers to help with swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals. We could also use some help in the Canteen. Click here to find and complete the Volunteer pre-requisites.

2023 Newsletter

The parent survey sent out earlier this year indicated that you would be happy with fortnightly newsletter updates. Beginning in Term 1, you can expect the newsletters on the Wednesdays of odd-numbered weeks.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Janet Moeller
Principal

From The DEPUTY Principal

Summit Cup

Congratulations to Red Hill who took out the Summit Cup. The trophy was presented to the House Captain’s in Monday’s assembly.

2023 School Captains

Congratulations to Sophia Gooden and Archie Mercer who were elected as School Captains and Pippen Cook and Ben Bull who were elected as Vice Captains for 2023. They shared a Captains’ Lunch on Tuesday with the 2022 captains who were able to pass on some advice on the role and what they had learnt from carrying out the job. They will be formally inducted into their roles early next year.

Team 6

The Team 6 graduation service was held last night at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The service was a mixture of songs, prayers and readings from our students and a gospel message.

I would like to thank the Team 6 students for the contribution they have made to the school. We give best wishes and God’s blessing to the students as they prepare to move onto a new chapter of their lives. Take whatever opportunities come your way and enjoy new challenges. Go well students!

2023

We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday 30 January.

As this is the last newsletter of the academic year, I would also like to wish all of our families God’s richest blessings and that you have a restful and peaceful break.

Dylan Evans
Deputy Principal

P&F

The AGM for the P and F was held on 29 November 2022. The Executive Committee for 2023 will be:

Chair:             Tara Freeburn
Vice Chair:     Jane Heller
Treasurer:       Lisa Price
Secretary:      Sally Ward
Fundraising:   Liz Gooden

Chrissy Richards has stepped down from the Executive – previously fulfilling the role of Treasurer – we thank Chrissy for her valued contribution to the executive over a number of years.

The Committee would like to sincerely thank all of the wonderful parents and carers for your support during 2022. We were finally able to organise a few more events as restrictions eased. Our major event, being the Spring Fair was a wonderful success, so well attended and supported by so many – the feedback from the community at large was amazing, and a great reflection on our school. We wrapped up the year with the mango drive – it was great to see so many families embrace this fundraiser.

We also thank all teachers and school staff for your assistance and contributions to our events during the year.

We have already started looking towards 2023 and what functions and events can be held for the year. Please contact any of the committee if you have suggestions. Our meetings are held at 7.00 pm the Tuesday of Week 2 and 8 each term, and we very much welcome all parents and carers to attend.

We wish all families of the school, the teachers and staff, a very Merry Christmas.

OSHC

We have a short week of school this week as Vacation care starts on Friday 9th December.

We will have the wonderful team from Little Champions coming to us on Tuesday and Thursday this week as we wrap up the term with active after school activities.

We will also be decorating the OSHC space and writing letters to Santa, along with other Christmas craft and games.

This week we start renovations for a new OSHC kitchen and will be asking families to sign in and out with the Kiosk that has moved to the Chapel entrance.

We greatly appreciate your understanding and support during this renovation period.

Vacation Care:

The Program for the Christmas and New Year school holidays is fully booked.

If you missed out on a space please speak to Bec at OSHC via email [email protected] or 69238124 and we will add you to the wait list.

Wishing everyone a very safe and Merry Christmas and happy New Year.

Bec Cameron

OSHC Coordinator

Other Information

Families leaving the school

Please note that one full term’s written notice is required if you are withdrawing your child from Lutheran School. We purchase learning materials based on projected enrolment numbers at least one term in advance. Hence, the enrolment contract you signed specifies that failure to provide a term’s notice will result in you being charged for the subsequent term.

Uniform Shop Orders

If you would like to purchase uniforms from the Uniform Shop, please email [email protected]

We will email you once the order is ready to be picked up from the office.  Thank you.
